Since the start of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic,\u00a0our academics at the University of Southampton have been at the forefront of research to understand, manage and contain the virus, most recently with\u00a0leading role<\/a>\u00a0in partnership with the council and NHS to lead on evaluating regular COVID-19 home testing using saliva samples.\u00a0The open access team have a role to collect, preserve and disseminate this vitally important work via ePrints Soton, the University of Southampton institutional repository.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Coronavirus<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

ePrints Soton is one of 258 repositories in the UK \u201csupporting early, open and unrestricted access to scientific, scholarly information.\u201d<\/a> We have been thinking about ways of sharing the latest studies on COVID-19, as we want to provide the best possible service to our researchers as well as highlighting the changes to Open Access models that the pandemic has disrupted with publishers removing paywalls to research \u2013 temporarily!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ePrints Soton contains different output types  – Datasets, including Personal Respirators (PeRSo)<\/a>, project reports, such as Changes in Outdoor Air Quality<\/a> as well as articles that have been peer-reviewed, eg Transmission in the home -role of viral load<\/a>.  We also accept preprints (Assessing spread beyond China<\/a>), typically non-peer reviewed research that can be advantageous in terms of speed but needs to be treated with appropriate scrutiny. <\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n
