Thursday 15 September 2016, Southampton<\/em><\/p>\n

Our popular annual Southampton Neuroscience (SoNG) meeting took place on\u00a0 15th September- with over 130 attendees\u00a0. This year the meeting was organised by Lindy Holden-Dye and Vincent O’Connor and the theme was ‘the brain and the environment’ providing an opportunity to reflect and discuss how the nervous system and its study can impact and translate across so many levels – Invited speakers from Cambridge and London\u00a0took us on a journey of \u00a0their latest work on genes, circuits, behaviours and the implications of knowledge of neuroscience\u00a0 on architecture;\u00a0 whilst senior and junior colleagues from Psychology, Medicine and Biological sciences\u00a0 covered our local neuroscience research, We heard about occupational therapy for patients with dementia, circadian rhythms and jetlag, virtual mazes and Dr Who, epigenetics and evolution, mathematical modelling , and systemic inflammation and Alzheimer’s disease.<\/p>\n

Very inspiring day and opportunity to meet colleagues (old farts according to VOC) and new people interested in neuroscience – and 43 posters- congrats to Monika Kudelska, Casey Morris, \u00a0Prutha Patel and Grace Halligan for best posters.\u00a0 All in all: great day!<\/p>\n

A big thank you\u00a0to Debbie, Delphine and Vincent for organising the annual event\u00a0who passed on the baton to Tracey Newman and Matt Garner after 4 years.<\/p>\n
