A comparative analysis between Jamz and its competitors.

CompareSmallIn a previous post, we compared the features of existing applications that are similar to Jamz. In this post, the proposed features of Jamz will be compared against its main competitors. We will be using the comparative table below as a guide.

Jamz will facilitate online collaboration amongst its users. Enabling musicians to work and play online is one of the main features of our application. The application will allow users to share files, video chat, and record music online. Online collaboration is also a common feature offered by its competitors. Similarly, all the applications including Jamz support audio. Users can record their music online, which can then be stored in an audio format such as mp3. None of the existing applications, however, supports real-time interaction. Jamz will allow users to video chat with each other as well as play and record music in real time. It will enable users to work better and produce high-quality pieces. Additionally, only one other application (jamly.co) allows recording online and supports video. This gives Jamz an advantage over some of its main competitors. These are unique features as the only one competitor is offering them. It, therefore, creates a better opportunity for Jamz to dominate this feature in the market. Jamz, at the moment, does not allow file uploads as it competitors does. The main reason behind this is because Jamz wants it users to record their music online. Jamz will use special technology to encode the music files in order to ensure high-quality files. Such features will not be available to the user if they are allowed to upload their own music files. It can also be seen from the comparative table that Jamz does not offer a desktop application. Jamz is a web based application and can provide all of its main features online. Therefore, it is not advantageous to have a desktop application.

An important part of Jamz is its social component. Jamz is essentially a social networking site for musicians. Users will have a list of friends that they can interact with directly. There will also have forums and message boards that allow users to interact with the wider community. Essentially, Jamz wants to create a platform that allows all musicians to communicate and interact with each other. Users will have a profile page where they can showcase their talent and promote themselves. These are similar features that the competing applications have however Jamz aims to make it more user-friendly and interactive. Jamz will also integrate with existing social networking site such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Users can then share items from within Jamz onto those existing sites.

Jamz will provide a free and premium service for users. A free account will be able to access all of the features that a premium account can expect that it will have limit storage. These are similar services provided by the competitors and Jamz aims to offer prices within the same range for that particular feature. At the moment, Jamz does not have a platform to sell music. One of its competitors (kompoz.com) has this particular feature. It is not an area of great importance at the moment. Jamz main features are targeted to areas that have not yet been fully exploited by the competing applications. We believe it will give our application a competitive advantage in the market.
