What we want to achieve from this application? What make this application different?
Our aim here is not making a replacement of any social media, or disrupting other university attempt to connect their students. Instead, we are trying to accommodate their need with a platform. We learnt this based on the story of GitHub, Tinder, etc. Instead of making other Facebook-kind of social network. We would like to connect people with their hobbies, especially for reaching out the potential students that perhaps, don’t know or don’t get the information about the desired club/activities.
And not just that, we might find some students who might be to shy to ask people and join a club but want to have a place to communicate about what they like, or students who want to know that activity just out of pure interest! By building the connection through similar interest, we would like to achieve:
- Students who aren’t connected through the club/activities that they like because of several reasons (e.g: time, no information, study schedule, etc) but they want to know the update
- Students who want to get a new friend, but they are afraid to start one, could start from someone who has similar interest
- Students who are difficult to access the information because of the language barrier, or they have other accessibility problem
- ..anything! Our goal is to connect people, not just spending time online but providing the safe offline environment as well
These values could be achieved as in this application, we try to build a link between clusters of new students. As the people probably easier to find friends based on their appearance first (such as: same ethnicity, same language, same background, same programme, etc), but through the application, we try to build another link for people to connect with others using hobbies as their links. Through here, we hope that we could lower their threshold and started to diffuse easier to other new students
