{"id":806,"date":"2013-03-19T10:31:44","date_gmt":"2013-03-19T10:31:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/wfrc\/?p=113"},"modified":"2013-03-19T10:31:44","modified_gmt":"2013-03-19T10:31:44","slug":"digital-technology-learner-identities-and-school-to-work-transitions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/multidisciplinary\/2013\/03\/19\/digital-technology-learner-identities-and-school-to-work-transitions\/","title":{"rendered":"Digital technology, learner identities and school-to-work transitions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A new interdisciplinary project aims to help young people with the transition from school to work.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The project entitled <em><strong>Digital technology, learner identities and school-to-work transitions in England and Germany<\/strong>,<\/em> will run from February to October 2013.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/wfrc\/blog\/2013\/05\/digital-technology-lschool-to-work-transitions\/attachment\/home-image-wfrc\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-114\"><img class=\"alignleft  wp-image-114\" title=\"home image wfrc\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/wfrc\/files\/2013\/05\/home-image-wfrc.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"201\" height=\"124\" \/><\/a>An interdisciplinary working group will explore the role of the digital technology in the formation of learner identities, learning cultures and in school-to-work transitions and a series of seminars with national and international speakers are planned. The ultimate aim remains to develop a research proposal to the Economic and Social Research Council.<\/p>\n<p>Southampton Education School&#8217;s <a title=\"Staff profile for Michaela Brockmann\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/sites\/education\/about\/staff\/mb10g12.page\">Dr Michaela Brockmann<\/a> and <a title=\"Alison Fuller staff profile\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/sites\/education\/about\/staff\/af.page\">Professor Alison Fuller<\/a>, alongside <a title=\"Susan Halford staff profile\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/sites\/socsci\/about\/staff\/sjh3.page\">Professor Susan Halford<\/a> and <a title=\"Pauline Leonard staff profile\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/sites\/socsci\/about\/staff\/pleonard.page\">Professor Pauline Leonard<\/a> in Social Sciences, have received an award from the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences&#8217; Strategic Interdisciplinary Research Development Fund.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Michaela Brockmann is also the English partner in the large EU Leonardo-da-Vinci Project, <em><a title=\"Retail sector research project\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/sites\/education\/research\/projects\/retail_sector_competencies.page\">\u2018Retail Sector Competencies\u2019 (ReSeCo): Developing self and social competencies in vocational training for the retail sector<\/a>,<\/em> co-ordinated by Professor Matthias Pilz at the University of Cologne and involving partners in Germany, England, Poland and Italy.<\/p>\n<p>This project aims to develop the personal and social competencies of young people and to help facilitate transition from school to work.
