\"Alison<\/a><\/p>\n

Alison Knight<\/a> – a Web Science PhD Student, a Research Fellow with Southampton Law School and member of the Super Identity<\/a> research team – was invited to talk to the Open Data User Group and members of the Cabinet Office Transparency Team on 15 January 2015.<\/p>\n

Alison, who is who is a specialist in digital identity, privacy and data protection legal issues, presented on the challenges raised by the prospect of the re-identification of individuals whose personal data has been anonymised and released in an \u2018open data\u2019 environment under the UK\u2019s transparency agenda. She has previously been awarded a ‘Best Paper’ award<\/a> from the Computer Law and Security Review Journal for her work in this area.<\/p>\n

In December last year, Alison also co-organised a special day for researchers<\/a> in the Web Science Institute and beyond – within and outside the University – dedicated to discussing digital challenges surrounding the collection, use and management of personal data. Due to the success of the event, she hopes to organise another day on this theme this Spring.<\/p>\n
