Return to Programme Structure

Year 1

Throughout Year 1 of the programme students have an opportunity to acquire skills in laboratory based and quantitative methodologies (see overview of programme in Figure 1 and training modules). The extensive training incorporates all aspects of the excellent immunology on offer throughout the University under a single umbrella to foster closer interactions for stimulating new science directions for students. It adopts an interdisciplinary approach leveraging excellence in chemistry, psychology, computing, engineering and biology and deliver world-class capabilities for the prosecution of immunology through quantitative bioinformatics and biology, including RNAseq and proteomics.

After completing 2 lab-based rotation projects students formulate their key research question/hypothesis and design their PhD project in discussion with their chosen supervisor and present at a “mini conference” with poster presentations to other cohort students.
