Medical Humanities is a module taken by all BM5\/6\/EU year one medical students to place the patients\u2019 perspectives and experiences at the centre of learning and develop doctors who are creative and reflective practitioners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students choose from a number of arts and humanities options through which to explore human experiences of health and illness and apply these insights to clinical practice. Options are facilitated by tutors from medical education, the faculty of arts and humanities, health professions as well as local artists.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here we celebrate and share some of the amazing creative outcomes that students produced in 2021 despite the challenging circumstances of learning and working creatively online. They demonstrate the insightful creative exploration that students achieve in this module while developing their professional identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Engender an approach to medicine that is constantly questioning and reflective
Recognise the rights and the equal value of all people<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Explore the diversity of human experience of health and illness
Identify and analyse different perceptions and experiences of health and illness<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Develop insight, understanding and empathy through exploring different student, patient & doctor perspectives
Manage uncertainty in an unfamiliar learning environment<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Explore the nature of the creative process and appreciate the role creativity can play in learning, personal & professional development
Determine how the arts and humanities may enable development of self-knowledge and support well-being<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
