{"id":651,"date":"2017-05-31T08:26:53","date_gmt":"2017-05-31T08:26:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/fsiblog\/?p=651"},"modified":"2017-05-31T08:26:53","modified_gmt":"2017-05-31T08:26:53","slug":"fsi-riverfest-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/maritimeblog\/2017\/05\/31\/fsi-riverfest-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"FSI @ RiverFest 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fluid Structure Interactions, alongside other parts of the University of Southampton, attended <a href=\"https:\/\/soriverfest.wordpress.com\/about\/\">RiverFest 2017<\/a>, part of Southampton Sailing Week on Saturday the \u00a027th May. \u00a0The event was held in Riverside Park, alongside the Itchen River, with rain in the morning and lovely sunshine in the afternoon and evening.<br \/>\nIt was designed as a day of music, theatre, science, games, crafts, talks &amp; workshops. Bringing together artists, historians and scientists to share their knowledge of the river with us. The aim is to\u00a0inspire the\u00a0community to enjoy and protect the Itchen\u00a0river into the future.<br \/>\nEstimates of over 4000 people attended the event across the whole riverside site. \u00a0FSI brought their Science of Ships display to demonstrate, hands-on, why ships float, sink and capsize.<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_653\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-653\"
