{"id":254,"date":"2015-10-05T09:33:09","date_gmt":"2015-10-05T09:33:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/fsiblog\/?p=254"},"modified":"2015-10-05T09:33:09","modified_gmt":"2015-10-05T09:33:09","slug":"safer-life-boats-evacuation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/maritimeblog\/2015\/10\/05\/safer-life-boats-evacuation\/","title":{"rendered":"Safer life boat evacuation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An external article in <a href=\"http:\/\/issuu.com\/futurenautics\/docs\/futurenautics_issue8_july15\">futurenautics<\/a>\u00a0(see page 44 and onwards, along with a mention in the editorial) is based on the research of our Ship Science student Alex Iley who was a recipient of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dnvgl.com\/news\/dnv-gl-award-for-young-professionals-towards-safer-smarter-and-greener-shipping-25951\">DNV GL Young professional<\/a>\u00a0of the year in the &#8216;safer&#8217; category. \u00a0In his work he examined the practicalities of of a lifeboat based evacuation using amongst other things the people flow modelling package &#8216;Mass Motion&#8217;.
