{"id":231,"date":"2015-06-28T20:50:33","date_gmt":"2015-06-28T20:50:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/fsiblog\/?p=231"},"modified":"2015-06-28T20:50:33","modified_gmt":"2015-06-28T20:50:33","slug":"open-day-full-tank","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/maritimeblog\/2015\/06\/28\/open-day-full-tank\/","title":{"rendered":"Open day &#8211; full tank!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The last month has been a busy one for the new wave and towing tank .\u00a0Approximately 140 water tankers (bowsers in the correct parlance) came and went leaving behind 3000 tonnes of pure Otterbourne water.\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/mUmkrPssVTM\">Carriage installation time lapse&#8230;.<\/a><br \/>\nThe first proper use of the wave makers occurred last week and they can create some large waves which is very exciting. Just pop in and have a chat with the staff and students around.<br \/>\nAs usual in a small discipline we find it difficult to get the message out about the fascinating careers and excellent salaries to hard pressed schools and their students so any help our friends can do in this respect is much appreciated. The next Open day opportunity\u00a0is in early September.<br \/>\nWe are more than happy for members of staff to visit schools to give talks\u00a0or for a\u00a0school group to visit us.
