However, the manufacturing process causes material and geometry uncertainties that can drastically change their attenuation performance. In this work, a spectral and wave and finite element based approach is proposed such that a wave-like interpretation can be derived for nearly-periodic structures. Results shown that even for slowly varying properties, wave reflections take place at critical sections.
