The vents are extremely effective, but once the suit is inflated they create large amounts of excess drag. This project aimed to improve wingsuit performance by designing and manufacturing a modification that could be easily and safely be built at a fraction of the cost of a new wingsuit.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ted Vickery<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Analysis of\u00a0Wingsuit Flight Mechanics Using Computational Fluid Dynamics<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Ted looked into\u00a0the flight mechanics, and in particular the longitudinal static stability, of two inflated wingsuits using CFD. Optimisation of some geometrical aspects were undertaken to improve the suits&#8217; stability. Reinforcement, by the means of wind tunnel tests, of potential stability improvement in differing areas of the flight envelope was seen as an area of further research.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dilaksan Thillaithevan<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Wingsuit Free Fly Rig Design Report<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Dilaksan designed a test rig for wingsuit analysis in the wind tunnel. Trialling the new suit in the wind tunnel in a \u2018safe\u2019 environment presents significant risk mitigation prior to a real flight test.
