{"id":269,"date":"2018-05-03T22:30:52","date_gmt":"2018-05-03T21:30:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/group1\/?p=269"},"modified":"2018-05-04T15:47:46","modified_gmt":"2018-05-04T14:47:46","slug":"creating-the-morethan-talk-logo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/group1\/2018\/05\/03\/creating-the-morethan-talk-logo\/","title":{"rendered":"Creating the &#8216;MoreThan TALK&#8217; logo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It is time to devise a logo for MoreThan TALK.\u00a0 If we had more time and greater resources, we could have commissioned a designer to work up some ideas and then complete market research on it.\u00a0 We had neither, so first stop (and a complete short cut!) was to visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freelogoservices.com\/\">www.freelogoservices.com<\/a>which is a site that will take a name and a theme and create pages of possible logos.\u00a0 In fact, there were 10 pages of logos, 20 logos to the page.\u00a0 A huge selection of frankly largely unsuitable designs.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-278\" src=\"http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/group1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/261\/2018\/04\/1-2-300x182.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"668\" height=\"405\" srcset=\"https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/group1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/261\/2018\/04\/1-2-300x182.png 300w, https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/group1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/261\/2018\/04\/1-2-768x467.png 768w, https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/group1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/261\/2018\/04\/1-2-1024x623.png 1024w, https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/group1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/261\/2018\/04\/1-2.png 1108w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 668px) 100vw, 668px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We quickly settled on two.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-272 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/group1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/261\/2018\/04\/2-300x215.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"203\" height=\"146\" srcset=\"https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/group1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/261\/2018\/04\/2-300x215.png 300w, https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/group1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/261\/2018\/04\/2.png 339w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 203px) 100vw, 203px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The first was a logo with an eye-catching shape.\u00a0 Compared with many social network logos (see earlier blog) it would probably be considered rather fussy.<\/p>\n<p>The software delivers a vanilla font, so we amended the font to something with a little more style.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-273 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/group1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/261\/2018\/04\/3-300x209.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"177\" height=\"123\" srcset=\"https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/group1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/261\/2018\/04\/3-300x209.png 300w, https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/group1\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/261\/2018\/04\/3.png 379w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 177px) 100vw, 177px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The text became a slightly larger element of the overall design.
