{"id":48,"date":"2018-07-30T13:22:08","date_gmt":"2018-07-30T12:22:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/externalexaminer\/?page_id=48"},"modified":"2026-02-17T15:10:06","modified_gmt":"2026-02-17T15:10:06","slug":"programme-specific-induction","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/externalexaminer\/sample-page\/programme-specific-induction\/","title":{"rendered":"Programme specific induction"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Following your appointment the School will send you programme specific information which may include:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Programme Information (often via access to relevant pages in Blackboard, or via SharePoint) or alternatively a copy of the approved Programme Specification.<\/li>\n<li>Programme information given to students (similar to the information provided in Faculty Blackboard Hubs) often via access to relevant pages in Blackboard, or via SharePoint)<\/li>\n<li>Programme regulations (via link to the relevant page of the University <a href=\"https:\/\/www.southampton.ac.uk\/about\/governance\/regulations-policies\">Governance webpages<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>An outline of each module (including core, compulsory and option modules)<\/li>\n<li>Assessment briefs\/marking criteria<\/li>\n<li>Draft examination papers<\/li>\n<li>Policies, procedures and regulations concerning the structure and administration of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.southampton.ac.uk\/quality\/assessment\/framework\/index.page\">assessment process<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.southampton.ac.uk\/~assets\/doc\/quality-handbook\/BoardsofExaminers.pdf\">Board of Examiners<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Mapping to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.qaa.ac.uk\/quality-code\/subject-benchmark-statements\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">QAA subject benchmarks<\/a> (where relevant)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Deputy Head of School (Education) or their nominee will provide information on local arrangements during a meeting with you (this may be conducted by Teams if you are unable to visit the University at the start of your appointment). The meeting may also include other representatives of the School, for example the Director of Programmes, Programme Lead, Examinations Officer, Head of Taught Programmes, Assessments Team Leader and members of the programme team.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0School level induction will include any additional information and support which you may require to effectively fulfil your role.
