Apple TV is proving to be a useful asset to the sessions, making it easier for attendees to share what they are doing with the whole group.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2226\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2226\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/321\/2017\/07\/IMG_0667.png\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-2226\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/321\/2017\/07\/IMG_0667.png?resize=150%2C150\" alt=\"LiquidText\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\"><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2226\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>LiquidText<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The free <a href=\"https:\/\/acrobat.adobe.com\/uk\/en\/products\/mobile-app.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Adobe Acrobat Reader<\/b><\/a> app can be used on a range of devices, and includes tools for adding highlights, text or freehand annotations to pdf documents. <a href=\"http:\/\/liquidtext.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>LiquidText<\/b><\/a> is a free app for iPads or iPhones, that allows both pdfs and web pages to be imported. Sections can be highlighted or extracts added to the notes area beneath the document, and pages can be virtually &#8220;scrunched&#8221; together to compare sections or view all highlights. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.papersapp.com\/ios\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Papers 3<\/b><\/a> is another free iPad app that supports searching for relevant content, as well as storing, reading and annotating papers. The metadata for articles can be edited, and used to find similar articles online.<\/p>\n<p>Another option for managing papers and references is the <a href=\"http:\/\/endnote.com\/product-details\/ipad\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>EndNote<b><\/b><\/b><\/a> app. This can be downloaded for free and will synch with an existing EndNote account. An alternative is <b>Mendeley<\/b> which is available for <a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/gb\/app\/mendeley-reference-manager\/id380669300?mt=8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">iPad<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.mendeley&amp;hl=en_GB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Android<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <b>Notes<\/b> tool available on iOS devices is useful for taking and storing notes. A new feature allows these to be organised into folders, and notes can include photographs taken of handwritten or printed documents, as well as allowing freehand drawing.
