We&#8217;ve been inspired by colleagues across Medicine and Health Sciences, sharing valuable ways technology is being used to enhance education and working practice. Colleagues from Digital Learning have also led a number of sessions, inviting discussion on how particular tools and techniques might be used in healthcare education. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Find out more about last year&#8217;s sessions below! Focusing particularly on Vevox, we explored how you might use polls, hotspots, branching scenarios, Q&amp;A and quizzes to engage learners actively and gauge understanding. What can you do to engage learners while they\u2019re studying independently? Utilising options such as Panopto&#8217;s quizzes and Mentimeter&#8217;s asynchronous polling (note this is an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.southampton.ac.uk\/digital-learning\/what-is-it\/unsupported.page\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">unsupported tool<\/a>), we considered how learners watching recordings can interact with the content and with one another. Attendees were invited on an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thinglink.com\/scenariocard\/1613506120981151747\">Ally Adventure<\/a>, exploring where different pathways might lead, taking a peek behind the scenes and considering how they might use branching scenarios in their own work. Arjun described how students can interact and engage with live operating sessions, and how practices developed during the pandemic have continued to shape surgical education. In this session, Melanie Seddon from Digital Learning showcased how the \u2018ABC\u2019 approach developed at UCL can encourage best use of these whether designing resources, teaching or training sessions, or a whole curriculum. In this session Pritti Aggarwal described the innovative ways the Primary Medical Care team made use of these tools to give students a clinical experience remotely, the ways these have shaped current practice and some of the lessons learned. This popular tool has a range of possibilities and purposes. During the session we heard how first year students have made the most of Sway and Forms to create learning resources around healthcare topics; how a welcome pack created in Sway breaks down the induction experience for students starting the MSc Allergy; how the Staff Development team use if to make key information available to staff teaching undergraduates through the BM staff handbook; how the CLAS team&#8217;s Sways complement in-person anatomy learning; and how the Southampton Clinical Trials Unit engage audiences with bitesize updates in their quarterly Sway newsletter.
