Notes can easily be integrated with Google Docs.\u00a0 I use an android phone, a MacBook and a PC and can easily use and sync Keep across all my devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Advantages of using Google Keep<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/321\/2017\/12\/Google-Keep-3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"267\" src=\"http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/321\/2017\/12\/Google-Keep-3-300x267.png\" alt=\"A checklist in Google Keep.\" class=\"wp-image-693\" srcset=\"https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/digital-learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/321\/2017\/12\/Google-Keep-3-300x267.png 300w, https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/digital-learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/321\/2017\/12\/Google-Keep-3-337x300.png 337w, https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/digital-learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/321\/2017\/12\/Google-Keep-3.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Keep has <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.makeuseof.com\/tag\/google-keep-evernote-alternative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">simple tools<\/a><\/strong> for making lists, notes, image notes and audio notes.&nbsp;&nbsp; You can set reminders and arrange your notes in either a single column or multi-column view.&nbsp; Notes can be colour coded and labelled.&nbsp; Audio notes can be stored as audio or transcribed as text \u2013 which is quite a useful function. Whilst I haven\u2019t used it myself, text from images can be extracted using optical character recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/321\/2017\/12\/Google-Keep-4-e1512729055665.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" src=\"http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/321\/2017\/12\/Google-Keep-4-e1512729055665-169x300.jpg\" alt=\"Notes in Google Keep.\" class=\"wp-image-694\" srcset=\"https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/digital-learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/321\/2017\/12\/Google-Keep-4-e1512729055665-169x300.jpg 169w, https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/digital-learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/321\/2017\/12\/Google-Keep-4-e1512729055665.jpg 344w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 169px) 100vw, 169px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Notes can be pinned at the top. For instance, I often keep a shopping list and a to-do list up top.\u00a0 Notes can be shared with others in your Google contact list.\u00a0 I love the fact that if I share a note I can collaborate in real-time.\u00a0 I share my shopping list with my husband so we can both add items.\u00a0 Notes can be converted into checklists, which is a useful feature. When you tick the box it crosses out\/greys out the item. (However, it can still be seen at the bottom of the list unless you delete it). It\u2019s easy to change the order of your list and move a line up or down as you require.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Challenges of using Keep<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/321\/2017\/12\/Google-Keep-5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"285\" src=\"http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/321\/2017\/12\/Google-Keep-5-300x285.jpg\" alt=\"Shopping lists and notes in Keep.\" class=\"wp-image-690\" srcset=\"https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/digital-learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/321\/2017\/12\/Google-Keep-5-300x285.jpg 300w, https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/digital-learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/321\/2017\/12\/Google-Keep-5-315x300.jpg 315w, https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/digital-learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/321\/2017\/12\/Google-Keep-5.jpg 577w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Keep has had <strong><a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.computerworld.com\/article\/3026239\/android\/google-keep-3-years.html\" target=\"_blank\">mixed reviews<\/a><\/strong> since inception but has been praised for its speed, synchronization and quality of voice notes. It has been criticised for a lack of formatting options but I don\u2019t find this an issue at all. I don\u2019t need fancy formatting for to-do lists. The linked article mentions not being able to pin notes to show up first but this function has since been added. Another criticism was\u00a0the lack of \u201cundo\u201d function\u00a0but in July this year, Google updated Keep on Android with undo and redo buttons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are <strong><a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mobileindustryreview.com\/2017\/06\/getting-started-note-taking-apps.html\" target=\"_blank\">plenty of other note-taking apps around<\/a> <\/strong>that may have better functionality but <strong><a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.guidingtech.com\/32221\/reasons-to-use-google-keep\/\" target=\"_blank\">I like Keep<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s simple, clean, intuitive ease of use plus its complete lack of whizzbang complexity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> by Anne Bell<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Google Keep is a free, simple notetaking service with apps on Android and iOS, which can be also used on the web via a google account.
