It can be turned on for a set time during a session, with students asked to contribute free text responses in answer to a question.  They can &#8216;like&#8217; each others responses, so that it&#8217;s possible to see which answers are the most popular and use these as the basis for discussion.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Neil Ford from the Business School described how Vevox is used in induction sessions, to gather suggestions as to what new students would most like to know at that point.  Again, the Q&amp;A option allows students to submit and vote on the questions they&#8217;d like addressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s worth noting that the university&#8217;s settings have now changed so by default Q&amp;A is turned off for new meetings, so you will need to switch it on in your meeting settings to use it.         <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Vevox surveys<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The team also spoke about uses of the survey feature in Vevox, which allows a series of poll questions to be grouped into an anonymous survey that students can complete at the end of a lecture or in their own time.  One example of surveys being used is for <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Peer review at UCL (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vevox.com\/resources\/case-studies\/ucl-conduct-peer-reviews-with-vevox\" target=\"_blank\">peer review at UCL<\/a>, where students working on a group project were asked about the level of involvement from their team members, ensuring any issues were flagged up and could be addressed in good time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"5449\" height=\"3078\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/digital-learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/321\/2020\/02\/Vevox-5.jpg?fit=755%2C426&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"People watching a Vevox presentation in a classroom.\" class=\"wp-image-4760\" srcset=\"https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/digital-learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/321\/2020\/02\/Vevox-5.jpg 5449w, https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/digital-learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/321\/2020\/02\/Vevox-5-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/digital-learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/321\/2020\/02\/Vevox-5-768x434.jpg 768w, https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/digital-learning\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/321\/2020\/02\/Vevox-5-1024x578.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 5449px) 100vw, 5449px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Single sign-on<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Single sign on has recently been introduced for Vevox at the university, meaning that rather than need to set up a separate Vevox account, users can now log in with their university details at:  <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"http:\/\/southampton.vevox.com (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/southampton.vevox.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/southampton.vevox.com<\/a>.  NHS users who have registered for an external user account can do the same (username@soton.ac.uk; password).   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When using the PowerPoint add-in, users will now need to connect to their account using the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Authentication code method (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/help.vevox.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/360002480538-Logging-in-to-the-PowerPoint-Add-in\" target=\"_blank\">authentication code method detailed here<\/a>.   It&#8217;s also worth noting that in order to access the PowerPoint add-in in lecture rooms, open PowerPoint via the <strong>Vevox desktop icon<\/strong> rather than the PowerPoint one. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An alternative to the PowerPoint add-in is the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Present view (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/help.vevox.com\/hc\/en-us\/sections\/360000275797-Present-View\" target=\"_blank\">Present view<\/a>, which opens up a web browser view that can be shared with students, while giving staff access to run polls in the same view.  This can also be used to display and manage Q&amp;A.  Vevox shared a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"link from the University of Warwick about using Present view (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/warwick.ac.uk\/services\/its\/servicessupport\/academictechnology\/support\/guides\/vevox-guides\/vevox-browser-only\/\" target=\"_blank\">link from the University of Warwick about using Present view<\/a>.         <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What next?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vevox emphasised the importance of user feedback and case studies in helping them develop the product &#8211; do get in touch with them if you have any suggestions.
