We&#8217;ve included <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thinglink.com\/scene\/1743381296614212070\">a 3D tour of our office space<\/a> (on the Highfield campus) so you can visualise where you might be working!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We share our office with colleagues in the Education Applications support team &#8211; they support our virtual learning environment, lecture capture and a range of other technologies that we use. We also spend time on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.southampton.ac.uk\/student-life\/campuses\">the University&#8217;s other UK campuses in Southampton and Winchester<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our team is led by the Digital Learning Team Manager, who is supported by Senior Learning Designer Team Leads, Senior Learning Designers, and a Media Producer Team Lead. Other roles within the team include Learning Designers, Learning Technologists, and Media Producers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our team structure promotes both specialisation and cross-functional collaboration, allowing you to contribute your unique skills while learning from colleagues with diverse expertise in educational technology. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Crafting your application<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Make every word count<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Use the full word count<\/strong> provided for each question &#8211; this space is given for a reason!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Address all parts of each question<\/strong> completely &#8211; missing components can significantly impact your score.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Follow the <a href=\"https:\/\/nationalcareers.service.gov.uk\/careers-advice\/interview-advice\/the-star-method\">STAR method<\/a><\/strong> (Situation, Task, Action, Result) when describing your experiences to clearly showcase your capabilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Before you apply<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We encourage you to contact the hiring manager with any questions you have before submitting your application. This helps you tailor your application more effectively. We will not close the post before the date stated in the advert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Keep it authentic<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While AI writing tools are increasingly accessible, <strong>please rely on your own voice and experiences<\/strong>. We&#8217;re specifically interested in understanding <em>you<\/em> &#8211; your unique skills, experiences, and approach to digital learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Understanding the scoring<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Each question in a job application is evaluated on a clear scale by the panel:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>0<\/strong> &#8211; Does not meet criteria<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>1<\/strong> &#8211; Partially meets criteria<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2<\/strong> &#8211; Meets criteria<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>3<\/strong> &#8211; Exceeds criteria<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The highest scoring candidates will be invited to interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The interview process<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pre-interview task<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If shortlisted, you are likely to receive a practical task related to the role. This task will be discussed during your interview, so come prepared to explain your approach and decisions. <strong>Important:<\/strong> Please include your name in all file names you submit!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will also be given a list of the general themes\/topics that will be covered in the interview. You may want to make some preparatory notes, so that you are able to show the full breadth of your skills, knowledge and experience during the interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Interview format<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The interview panel will usually consist of three people (a mix of genders), one of whom is likely to be a &#8216;super recruiter&#8217; from outside the team. This person is an experienced recruiter who will be ensuring that all recruitment processes are fair and transparent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interviews typically take place via Microsoft Teams<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The types of questions you can expect, include:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>situational judgement scenarios <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>role-specific topics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>behavioural<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>technical <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>motivation-based<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>opinion-based<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Each question will be posted in the chat for your reference<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You&#8217;ll usually have about 5 minutes to answer each question &#8211; specific timings will be clarified within the interview<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Interview tips<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Take a moment to reflect<\/strong> before answering questions &#8211; thoughtful responses are valued over immediate replies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Make use of the full time<\/strong> allocated for each response (typically 5 minutes)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Watch for time signals<\/strong> &#8211; a panel member will raise their hand virtually when you have 1 minute remaining<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Come prepared<\/strong> &#8211; you&#8217;re welcome to bring notes and a drink<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Have a backup plan<\/strong> &#8211; if technical issues arise, we can switch to cameras-off or reschedule<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Technical contingencies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you encounter technical difficulties during your interview:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We can switch to audio-only (cameras off) if that helps<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If problems persist, the interview chair will call you to arrange a different time slot<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don&#8217;t worry about technical glitches &#8211; we understand these happen!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Making an offer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We will usually contact all candidates within 2 weeks of their interview. If you are successful, you are welcome to request a campus tour\/office tour to help with your decision-making.
