Data Driven Chemistry"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">Dial-a-Molecule Grand Challenge Institute<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><a href=\"http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/dial-a-molecule\/the-network\/structure\/lab-of-the-future-synthetic-route-selection\/rapid-reaction-analysis\/\">Rapid reaction analysis <\/a>has been identified by the\u00a0Dial-a-Molecule Grand Challenge\u00a0as an area most in need of a <span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><strong>central facility<\/strong><\/span>, due to the cost of equipment\/instruments, and even more critically, the provision of expertise to provide training in the use and interpretation of data.<\/p>\n<p>Such a facility would give access to state-of-the-art <span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><strong>automated synthesis<\/strong><\/span> and <strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">analysis equipment<\/span><\/strong>, <span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><strong>advanced data analysis<\/strong><\/span>, <span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><strong>mining and management software<\/strong><\/span> and <strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">skilled staff.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0facility would aim to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Provide\u00a0<span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><em>UK wide access to facilities<\/em><\/span> that are currently unavailable to the majority of chemists thus <span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><em>accelerating discovery and manufacture<\/em><\/span>.<\/li>\n<li>Drive\u00a0the <span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><em>development<\/em><\/span> and <span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><em>adoption<\/em><\/span> of equipment and software for <em><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">next generation synthesis<\/span><\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Enable\u00a0<span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><em>research<\/em><\/span> for reaction scoping, robustness, and predictability.<\/li>\n<li>Address the current skills gap and <span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><em>improve the employability of graduates<\/em><\/span>.<\/li>\n<li>Act as a <span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><em>Hub<\/em><\/span>, liaising with existing centres (e.g. Manufacturing Catapult, CPI, CMAC, CPACT etc)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The proposed <span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><strong>Grand Challenge Institute<\/strong><\/span> would be available to all UK scientists across all sectors. \u00a0To help shape the proposal and identify what is required we ran a short survey. \u00a0The results were extremely positive and are depicted graphically below.
