{"id":3429,"date":"2017-03-03T11:12:34","date_gmt":"2017-03-03T11:12:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/dial-a-molecule\/?page_id=3429"},"modified":"2017-03-03T11:12:34","modified_gmt":"2017-03-03T11:12:34","slug":"origin","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/dial-a-molecule\/origin\/","title":{"rendered":"Origin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In May 2008 the EPSRC in collaboration with the Chemistry Innovation <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ktn-uk.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\">Knowledge Transfer Network<\/a>, The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rsc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Royal Society of Chemistry<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.icheme.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Institution of Chemical Engineers<\/a> ran a consultation to identify opportunities for Grand Challenges in chemical science and engineering.<\/p>\n<p>The consultation produced 153 ideas (including Dial-a-Molecule) which were discussed at a 2 day workshop in Manchester in November 2008. Consolidation and discussion reduced the number to 13 areas, the champions of which were asked to produce 4 page cases in January 2009.<\/p>\n<p>By September 2009 EPSRC\u2019s Strategic Advisory Team selected 4 of the areas to be invited to submit full proposals for funding of a network.<\/p>\n<p>Three of these networks subsequently received funding from EPSRC:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p
