{"id":2708,"date":"2019-03-06T12:36:39","date_gmt":"2019-03-06T12:36:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/deccma\/?p=2708"},"modified":"2019-03-06T12:39:58","modified_gmt":"2019-03-06T12:39:58","slug":"new-deccma-brief-climate-change-and-the-economic-future-of-deltas-in-africa-and-asia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/deccma\/2019\/03\/06\/new-deccma-brief-climate-change-and-the-economic-future-of-deltas-in-africa-and-asia\/","title":{"rendered":"New DECCMA brief &#8220;Climate change and the economic future of deltas in Africa and Asia&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The DECCMA Economics team have released a new policy brief &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/deccma\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/181\/2017\/02\/DECCMA_Deltas.pdf\">Climate change and the economic future of deltas in Africa and Asia<\/a>&#8220;.\u00a0 The policy brief is led by the team from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bc3research.org\/\">Basque Centre for Climate Change<\/a>, and summarises some of the key findings on the current and future economic status of deltas, taking into account climate change, and distills information from papers published in the peer-reviewed literature (including &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1016\/j.scitotenv.2018.08.139\">The socioeconomic future of deltas in a changing environment<\/a>&#8221; by Arto et al).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2705\" src=\"http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/deccma\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/181\/2017\/02\/Wp4-brief-e1551874448522.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"428\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The brief highlights how climate change has the potential to reduce GDP per capita by 8.5-14.5% in the deltas, through impacts on infrastructure, agriculture and fisheries.
