{"id":1803,"date":"2017-10-19T09:00:10","date_gmt":"2017-10-19T08:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/deccma\/?p=1803"},"modified":"2017-10-17T12:26:26","modified_gmt":"2017-10-17T11:26:26","slug":"deccma-and-assar-present-at-unu-wider-development-conference-in-ghana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/deccma\/2017\/10\/19\/deccma-and-assar-present-at-unu-wider-development-conference-in-ghana\/","title":{"rendered":"DECCMA and ASSAR present at UNU-WIDER Development Conference in Ghana"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>by Prosper Adiku, DECCMA Ghana RiU focal point<\/em><\/p>\n<p>On October 6th, Kwasi Appeaning-Addo participated at the UNU-WIDER Development Conference held in Accra.<\/p>\n<p>The UNU-WIDER Conference, held under the theme \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wider.unu.edu\/event\/migration-and-mobility-new-frontiers-research-and-policy\">Migration and mobility- new frontiers for research and policy<\/a>\u2019 was jointly organised by the UNU-WIDER and the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA). The 2-day conference comprised plenary, parallel sessions with contributed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wider.unu.edu\/node\/139947\">papers<\/a>, and a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wider.unu.edu\/node\/139613\">poster session<\/a>. The conference explored the relationships between migration, mobility, and development, with a focus on South-South movements and the African region. It aimed to bring together new and innovative research from economics and other disciplines that can inform broader policy-relevant debate and action.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1804\" src=\"http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/deccma\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/181\/2017\/10\/UNU-WIDER-conference-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"UNU WIDER conference\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Profs. Chris Gordon (2<sup>nd<\/sup> L) and Appeaning-Addo (2<sup>nd<\/sup> R) at the Environment and Natural Resources parallel session of the Conference (Photograph credit: Wendy Boakye)<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"show_more\"><p class=\"wpsm-show\" style=\"color: #cc0000; font-size: 100%; text-align: left;\"> show more<\/p><div class=\"wpsm-content\"><\/p>\n<p>Presenting on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wider.unu.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/Events\/PDF\/Slides\/MigrationConf-slides-Appeaning-Addo.pdf\">DECCMA&#8217;s\u00a0findings on migration and mobility across deltas<\/a>, Professor Appeaning-Addo was part of the \u201cEnvironment and Natural Resources\u201d parallel session chaired by Lingu\u00e8re Mously Mbaye. The Collaborative Adaptation Research in Africa and Asia programme was also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wider.unu.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/Events\/PDF\/Slides\/MigrationConf-slides-Gordon.pdf\">represented by Professor Chris Gordon<\/a> of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.assar.uct.ac.za\">Adaptation at Scale in Arid and Semi-arid land (ASSAR)<\/a>.
