It will integrate the results of WP2, WP3 & WP4 to analyse and provide assessment methods and modelling tools (for policy analysis in WP6) which consider the bio-physical, economic and socio-economic drivers of migration, the potential migration fluxes of men and women, potential trapped populations. It will also assess the success of other autonomous and planned adaptation processes and decisions (WP6), and how this influences migration choices. As such these integrated assessment methods can be utilised to conceptualise and investigate potential future migration of men and women under climate change and other factors, including a range of adaptation policy choices. This will support better analysis of adaptation choices in deltas. In particular, WP5 offers two main innovations: i) The development of an integrated assessment and model approach valid across a range of deltas; and ii) Inter-comparison between and across the selected deltas to identify generic and bespoke characteristics of deltas, which can be linked to the transferability of the research to other deltas.

Work Tasks:

5.1 A preliminary conceptual framework for assessing adaptation and migration in deltas

5.2 Finalised conceptual framework for assessing adaptation and migration in deltas

5.3 Design and validate a prototype integrated assessment tool for adaptation and migration in deltas

5.4 Develop delta-specific integrated assessment tools

5.5 Generic lessons for integrated modelling and adaptation and migration analysis

<- Work Package 4 ———————————————— Work Package 6 ->

WP5 Staff:

Name

Institute

Country

Prof. Robert Nicholls

University of Southampton

Northern (UK)

Dr. Attila Lazar

University of Southampton

Northern (UK)

Andres Payo

University of Southampton

Northern (UK)

Dr. Sugata Hazra

Jadavpur University

India

Dr. Anirban Mukhopadhyay

Jadavpur University

India

Professor Md.
