The University website<\/a> has a huge amount of information about Highfield campus<\/a> and the university more generally. This page shows some highlights: IT, food and drink, main facilities and maps.<\/p>\n

IT AND WIFI<\/strong><\/p>\n

The university is part of the Eduroam<\/a> system for free Wifi. If you do not use Eduroam, then choose Wifi Guest<\/a> from the available networks.<\/p>\n

On the ground floor of the University’s Hartley Library<\/a>, there is a caf\u00e9 and some PCs. You do not need a library card to access this area. The Hartley Library is on the other side of University Road from the gym and the Nuffield Theatre. It is easy to find.<\/p>\n

FOOD AND DRINK<\/strong><\/p>\n

There are several foot outlets on the main Highfield campus as well as a shop and\u00a0several pubs and bars. There is also a Costa coffee on the northern edge of the campus on Burgess Road. Burgess Road itself has a number of shops and takeaways. Portswood High Street has a wider range of sit-in restaurants, ice-cream parlours and bars. The Crown Inn<\/a> is within easy walking distance of the campus and serves very basic meals. The Brewhouse<\/a> on Highfield Lane is a more upmarket micro-brewery. If you wish to walk across Southampton Common, you can go to the Cowherd’s Pub<\/a>. This has real fires and gastro-pub food. In town, Oxford Street<\/a> has a wide range of restaurants. There is also another microbrewery called the Dancing Man<\/a>. It is situated in a medieval building near to the docks. There is a vegetarian\/vegan restaurant called Indian Melody<\/a> in the centre of town.<\/p>\n

CAMPUS MAP<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

The campus has a gym and swimming pool<\/a>; a theatre; an art gallery; a concert hall; prayer facilities; doctors and a pharmacy. There are also shops which sell a range of stationery and other items. On the northern edge of the campus next to Burgess Road there is a Post Office, banks, a Costa coffee, a bookshop\/general stationery shop and a pub called the Style.\u00a0There is a Co-op on Burgess Road (head east) and two large supermarkets on Portswood High Street (head south on University Road, south down Church Lane, then turn left). There is a cash machine located outside the SUSU shop. The SUSU shop, the Stag’s Head pub and various other catering outlets are all located around a piazza next to the gym and (more or less) opposite the library. It is a compact campus so everything is nearby.<\/p>\n

PARKING<\/strong><\/p>\n

Parking is often difficult in the Highfield Campus area. You can park anywhere on campus at the weekends. During the week, it is more difficult. The university’s parking policy<\/a> can be reviewed here. Otherwise, the various hotels have parking facilities and it is easier to walk or take the bus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
