This uses put to 32 &#8220;Neurons&#8221; or small Inertial Measurement Units which house gyro, accelerometer and magnetometer. The Axis Neuron software translates this data into 3D position data for each Neuron and streams this in real-time and can record it to disk.<\/p>\n<p>Willing victim Dr Benjamin Oliver was strapped into the Neuron suit during a rehearsal with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.workersunionensemble.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Workers Union Ensemble<\/a>\u00a0which was also video and audio recorded so we could compare the data from each source.<\/p>\n<p>We captured approximately 60 minutes of rehearsal time, which was then integrated by Research Assistant Dan Halford, a sample of which can be seen below which features <a href=\"https:\/\/helenpapaioannou.com\/\">Helen Papaioannou<\/a>&#8216;s <em>Backscatter <\/em>(2017).<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 660px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('video');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-30-1\" width=\"660\" height=\"371\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/conductormocap\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/202\/2017\/11\/BenIMUCapture-desktop.m4v?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/conductormocap\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/202\/2017\/11\/BenIMUCapture-desktop.m4v\">http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/conductormocap\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/202\/2017\/11\/BenIMUCapture-desktop.m4v<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While the final\u00a0capture session for the project will focus on using highly accurate optical motion capture, as a preliminary test we wanted to quickly capture some conducting motion data for analysis.
