We recommend you spend a few minutes in a vacant CLS room to practice this so you can do it quickly at the start of your teaching sessions. See <a href=\"http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/cls\/online-guide\/connecting-a-laptop\/\">connecting a laptop<\/a> for details.<\/p>\n<p>Older PCs and laptops have screens with an aspect ratio (width to height) of 4:3 or 4:5. The modern trend is for laptops with widescreen displays, and newer data projectors and flat-panel displays are designed to show widescreen images with an aspect ratio of 16:9.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You may need to adjust your laptop\u2019s display settings so the data projector or flat-panel display shows your screen correctly.<\/li>\n<li>For data projectors an output resolution of 1280 by 1024 pixels is ideal.<\/li>\n<li>For widescreen flat-panel displays an output resolution of 1920&#215;1080 pixels is ideal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>All CLS teaching rooms have either a data projector or a large flat-panel display mounted on the wall to show the output from the bench PC, a laptop or other device, a DVD player or visualiser.
