For example, a tutor may be using a laptop to show a YouTube video, and although they can see it they can\u2019t hear it.<\/p>\n<p>You can call ServiceLine on x25656 using the phone in the room for advice, and they may send a technician to assist you, but there are some simple things you can check yourself to fix the problem quickly.<\/p>\n<h2>Display<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Have you selected the correct video source (PC, laptop, DVD etc.) using the control panel?<\/li>\n<li>Did you press <strong>Hide picture<\/strong> on the <a href=\"http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/cls\/online-guide\/touch-screen-control-panel\/\">touch-screen control panel<\/a>? If so, press <strong>Show picture<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Is the data projector or flat-panel display switched on? In some smaller CLS rooms with ceiling-mounted projectors, you can reach up and press its ON button if necessary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Laptop video<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Are the video and audio cables securely plugged in?<\/li>\n<li>Have you extended or duplicated its display? See <a href=\"http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/cls\/online-guide\/data-projectors-and-wall-mounted-screens\/\"><strong>Data projectors and flat-panel displays<\/strong><\/a> for details.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Audio<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Is the volume on the PC or laptop turned up? Have you selected the correct audio output? See <a href=\"http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/cls\/online-guide\/connecting-a-laptop\/\"><strong>Connecting a laptop<\/strong><\/a> for details.<\/li>\n<li>Is the volume on the room\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/cls\/online-guide\/speakers\/\"><strong>control panel<\/strong><\/a> turned up?<\/li>\n<li>Did you press <strong>Silence sound<\/strong> on the touch-screen control panel? If so, press <strong>Activate sound<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>If you are using HDMI, try disconnecting and reconnecting the cable, making sure that it is securely plugged in.
