Photo: Thierry Bal<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>During these challenging times and faced with the new normal, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.southampton.ac.uk\/uni-life\/arts.page\">Arts at University of Southampton<\/a> is joining our friends at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayflower.org.uk\/\">Mayflower Theatre<\/a>, Southampton, in pledging that&nbsp;<em>The Show Must Go On(line).&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jhg.art\/\">John Hansard Gallery<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.turnersims.co.uk\/\">Turner Sims<\/a>\u00a0are both exploring ways to focus their energies within the digital sphere, seeking to animate online spaces to bring you inspiring art and culture. Alongside this, Arts at University of Southampton\u2019s digital channels will be dedicated to sharing with you the best of the arts to be accessed remotely. We\u2019ll also be inviting the talented creatives and artists in our own team to contribute ideas and showcase their practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Many large organisations in the cultural sector have already announced programmes suitable for these times of isolation and lockdown. Most notable in the UK is the partnership between the BBC and Arts Council England who are pledging to bring us&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/arts\"><strong><em>Culture in Quarantine<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, a virtual festival designed to keep the arts alive in our homes during this unprecedented period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our own cultural institutions here at the University have also been quick off the mark in bringing digital content to audiences. Not only is Haroon Mirza a fantastic artist, but also an incredible DJ. Every day at 3pm (marking the end of the \u2018school\u2019 day), James releases a video on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCqq_Iz_q3pFTkkju-PpVOFA\/videos?view_as=subscriber\"><strong>his YouTube channel<\/strong><\/a> in which he tells a story, often accompanied by his live illustration as he speaks. Though *technically* intended for children, the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tate.org.uk\/kids\">Tate Kids website<\/a><\/strong> is an explosion of virtual art related fun for all age groups.
