This launch is happening that very same\u00a0week that aspects of our collaborative research with <a href=\"https:\/\/historicengland.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Historic England<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.southampton.ac.uk\/engineering\/research\/groups\/bioeng.page\" target=\"_blank\">Bioengineering<\/a> (here at Southampton) are being talked about at the <a href=\"http:\/\/europa.eu\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\">European Union<\/a> in Brussels!<\/p>\n<p>But why are we called <a href=\"https:\/\/pathbrite.com\/BOS\/profile\" target=\"_blank\">BOS<\/a>? <a href=\"https:\/\/pathbrite.com\/BOS\/profile\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>B<\/strong>ioarchaeology &amp; <strong>O<\/strong>steoarchaeology at <strong>S<\/strong>outhampton<\/a> &#8211; but that much is obvious&#8230;<br \/>\n<strong><em>Bos<\/em><\/strong>, however, is<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-3335 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/generic.wordpress.soton.ac.uk\/archaeology\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/sites\/20\/2015\/10\/Skull_of_aurochs.jpg\" alt=\"Skull_of_aurochs\" width=\"120\" height=\"90\" \/> also the genus name for cow &#8211; and this highlights the fact that we\u00a0work with <strong>both<\/strong> humans and animals.<br \/>\nAlthough most of our research students work on questions relating to human groups and human populations, we also\u00a0question the interactions between humans and animals &#8211; such as how diseases spread from one group to another, or how foods are produced and consumed.<\/p>\n<p>This website\u00a0is a work-in-progress &#8211; please keep checking back to find out more of what we are doing!
