The research and practical elements of the project were, as ever, thrilling, involving a large team of individuals from different backgrounds interested in different aspects of the archaeology of the site and surrounding landscape, and on the different approaches and methods applied as part of the project.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/digitalhumanities\/files\/2014\/01\/IMAG0674.jpg\"><img class=\"aligncenter\" alt=\"IMAG0674\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.soton.ac.uk\/digitalhumanities\/files\/2014\/01\/IMAG0674-466x279.jpg\" width=\"466\" height=\"279\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With the work for 2013 finished, and lots of more exciting prospects to look forward to in 2014, it seemed like a good moment to highlight some of the posts from last year.<\/p>\n<p>In July, some of the work of the excavation, including excavation and recording of rooms in the Imperial Palace, were recorded in two posts:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kdstrutt.wordpress.com\/2013\/06\/30\/excavation-and-survey-at-portus-the-first-week-of-the-2013-field-school\/\">Excavation and Survey at Portus &#8211; First Week of 2013 Field School<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kdstrutt.wordpress.com\/2013\/07\/05\/portus-field-school-week-two-canals-boats-and-local-residents\/\">Two Canals Boats and Local Residents\u00a0-\u00a0Second Week of 2013 Field School<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In addition to the summer fieldwork, the writing up of the Portus and Isola Sacra geophysics was continued in the autumn. As a result of this I posted a blog looking at some of the issues of data analysis and interpretation, with reference to the GPR and ERT surveys at Portus, and the magnetometry at the Isola Sacra:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kdstrutt.wordpress.com\/2013\/12\/03\/contemplating-data-analysis-and-narrative\/\">Contemplating Data Analysis and Narrative<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Finally at the end of November, a short season of ERT survey was carried out across the necropolis and canal on the Isola Sacra to the south of Portus:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kdstrutt.wordpress.com\/2013\/12\/08\/electrical-resistivity-tomography-on-the-isola-sacra\/\">Electrical Resistivity Tomography on the Isola Sacra<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Results are being written up at the moment together with the Isola Sacra geophysics.
