New paper – “It gives me confidence and value”: evaluating All_Ears@UoS patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) group three years on
The findings from an evaluation of All_Ears PPIE group after three years of running the group has been published.
Using two co-designed surveys, we gathered perspectives from both our group members and the researchers who have worked with the group.
Key strengths identified included communication, the diversity and inclusivity of the group and its members, the perceived impact of the group, and the partnerships developed between group members and researchers.
Areas for improvement included a need for more training opportunities to support skill development, greater flexibility around meeting scheduling, and increased visibility of public involvement at the University.
Both group members and researchers reported positive impacts on themselves, the research, the deaf community, and wider society. We hope these findings will be useful for researchers and clinicians seeking to build and sustain meaningful PPIE partnerships.
