I was relieved by Badcock at eight o’clock this morning. Our monitors opened fire on Oghratina about nine o’clock this morning. An enemy plane came over about 10 o’clock, but didn’t bomb us.

An enemy plane came over this evening; the monitors at Mahemdiya opened fire with their ‘archies’ and an old ‘how’ here tried a round or two, but without effect. Two of our planes went out towards Oghratina this evening and we could clearly see the German ‘archies’ making quite good practice at them. It is pretty disgraceful that we should have allowed the Turks to bring up anti aircraft guns, and not have any here ourselves.
