Winfred Dotse-Gborgbortsi

I am Winfred Dotse-Gborgbortsi a first year PhD student from Ghana and an aspiring spatial epidemiologist. My background is in public health, specifically health information management. Previously, I studied Public Health at the University of Ghana where I heard about and collaborated with academics from Southampton. Later, I studied GIS and Remote Sensing here at Southampton due to my love for maps, data visualisation and evidence-based decision-making in health. I have more than a decade’s experience in public health programme implementation with the Ghana Health Service and briefly worked as a monitoring and evaluation lead in an NGO. My PhD project is focused on improving maternal health services in Ghana by using routinely collected health data. I would be analysing data on quality care provision, demand for maternal health services and travel time to health facilities. Hopefully, there would be some beautiful maps in there!

If you do work with health data from developing countries or your project is anything public health, do feel free to have a chat and collaborate with me. I am also thrilled to speak with people from any research field. You can find my student profile here.
