Daniel Fay is a Research Technician within Engineering and the Environment at the University of Southampton.

Daniel graduated from the University of Bath in 2014 with a BSc (Hons) in Applied Computing and joined the Transportation Research Group in April 2014, to work as Technical Lead on the CoMTET (Command Team Experimental Test-Bed) project, funded by the Ministry of Defence. CoMTET is a full sized model of a currently operational submarine control room. It was built to perform novel research into submarine command team socio-technical networks and is one of the only research facilities of its kind in the United Kingdom. The research aim is to assess current methods of working for command teams, using repeatable scientific experiments, to systematically evaluate where performance benefits may be gained in future multi-role submarine platforms. A press release can be found here. Daniel is particularly interested in Software Engineering and HCI (Human Computer Interaction); in CoMTET these interests are explored via research into user interfaces to improve command team performance, and the underlying software architecture required to support them.
