Most larger CLS teaching rooms have a DVD player in the lectern bench at the front of the room. In a few rooms the DVD player is in a separate equipment cabinet at the side of the room.
- Note that in most rooms you cannot play Blu-ray disks, only standard DVDs.
- A few of the largest CLS rooms also have a separate Blu-ray player.
- In smaller CLS rooms you can use the CD drive built into the bench PC to play DVDs.
Using a DVD player:
- Make sure the DVD player is on; you will probably need to press its Power button.
- Press the Eject button to open the tray, insert your DVD and press the Eject button again to close it.
- Press DVD on the touch-screen control panel to see the DVD playback controls.
- Press the DVD Menu Control button to navigate through DVD menus.
- Press the DVD Transport Controls button to return to the DVD playback controls.
- Don’t forget to eject your DVD and please turn off the player when you are done. They are used infrequently and it wastes energy to keep them permanently powered on.
Using the CD drive in the bench PC:
- Press the Eject button next to the disc drive on the PC to open the tray, insert your DVD and press the Eject button again to close it.
- Open File Explorer and double-click on the D drive icon to start playing the DVD using VLC Media Player.
- Use your mouse to navigate the DVD menus and operate the playback controls. Note the control that makes the DVD play full screen, with a small control panel that hides after a few seconds. Move your mouse to un-hide the control panel when required.
