This is the last in this series of intern blogs when I have been asked to share my experience of my internship. It has been a pleasure working with the CHEP community so far and we all hit the ground running back in April.  I have had opportunities to develop my research and data skills and am looking forward to a busy Summer with the team.

For the past 3 months, I have had the amazing opportunity to serve as a full-time intern with CHEP. As soon as I started the role, I immediately hit the ground running, meeting with staff members of the CHEP community, working with other interns, and learning more about CHEP and its wide-reaching impact at the university. My training week was intense, fast-paced, and very exciting; and my manager was very supportive as I adapted to a new and unfamiliar working environment in a short period of time.

At the forefront of my internship, I learned more about the university’s framework of online education for its new transition to online learning. This gave me a taster of my future work at CHEP, outlining my manager’s expectations and highlighting the goals and objectives I will be working towards.

For one of the workstreams I am currently working on, I have been applying quantitative and qualitative approaches to analyze welcome activities and student engagement with the different online materials. Not only has this helped give me a solid footing in data analysis, learning how to handle data and use numerical evidence to find trends and suggest improvements, but it also allowed me to play a major active role in improving the student experience.

I had the opportunity to develop my research skills by working in another workstream, where I researched learning analytics, the critical constraints of its application at the University, and how it can be integrated with the University’s wider objective and strategies. I also helped provide an in-depth student review of the library’s online services, and I look forward to working with staff members for its future projects.

I look forward to continuing my internship throughout the summer and exploring more of CHEP and its workstreams!

It is a pleasure working with the CHEP community; their support and willingness to help me grow in the role is constantly at the centre of my work. The outlook that working at CHEP gives me also greatly prepares me for both my future studies and career.
