In the first series we will be speaking to our leading educational figures with a track record of delivering excellence and innovation. We will be talking to them about defining teaching excellence and innovation in education as well as discussing wider issues such as TEF and the challenges faced in improving NSS ratings.

In our tenth episode we chat to Russell Bentley who is a Professor of Political Theory within Economic, Social and Political Sciences and Deputy Head of School – Education, at the University of Southampton. Russell talks about the continuous need to engage our students through enthusiasm and passion in our teaching and talks very candidly about the need to recognise and reward teaching excellence. Plus, we discuss some of the problems associated with the term ‘Teaching Fellow’ and how it is a source of much confusion in the academic world.
